MLSD Meal Delivery Information

UPDATED ON MARCH 24, 2020

Reminder for food distribution at Meigs Elementary and Meigs Middle School tomorrow from 10:00am-12:00pm! You may pick up at either location. It doesn't matter where your child is enrolled. Any school can give you food. We are giving food to any child between the ages of 1-18.

We have a group of people that have volunteered their time/resources to deliver food to the families that are truly in need. We ask that if you are able/capable of picking up your food, that you do so. You will not be getting out of your car. We will hand your food (with gloved hands) directly through your window. We prepared all of your food bags with gloved hands as well. We have made this process as safe as we can.

If you have a true need for someone to deliver your food, we will do that. You would need to private message the MEIGS LOCAL FOOD SERVICE facebook page, and I will be checking those throughout the next few days. I would need your name, the number of children between ages 1-18 who live in the household, and your address. Please come directly to this page with any delivery needs you might have. This will hopefully avoid any potential confusion.

In addition, Meigs Middle School will have grade level enrichment packets available for pickup. Those will be distributed with your food. Both MMS and MES afterschool programs will also being giving out food to enrolled children.

Finally, I want to thank our hard working cooks, bus drivers, custodians, nurses, and all associated people who have come together (w/ appropriate social distancing guidelines followed of course!) to make all of this possible. We literally could not do this without all of you, and I am extremely grateful and proud to work with them. Hard times reveal true character, and you guys are some of the best. My hat is off to you :)

Please share to reach as many families as possible! Stay safe, friends

UPDATED ON MARCH 22, 2020

Updated Meigs Local Food Distribution Plan: Due to Governor DeWine’s updated “stay at home” guidelines, we will not be running the planned bus routes. We will instead offer pick up locations at Meigs Elementary and Meigs Middle Schools. These sites will offer drive through service in the back of the buildings. It is not necessary for families to get out of vehicles. We will hand your food directly through your window.

These locations will offer this service once weekly, on Wednesdays, from 10:00-12:00. Each family will receive 5 meals per child.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we strive to meet your child’s nutritional needs, while still keeping all parties as safe and socially distanced as possible. Together we will win the battle!

Meigs Local School District Meal Distribution info: (Please keep in mind that these plans may change if we receive further directives from the Governor.) We will deliver food to every MLSD household twice next week, on Tuesday 3/24 and Friday 3/27. Each week thereafter will be distributed 3 times, on Mon/Wed/Fri. Each child will receive a total of five meals between all of the deliveries.

Food will be distributed according to your bus route. Each bus will run their normal route and will stop at each home. Please make sure that someone is present to meet the bus and get the food. We cannot leave food if no one is present. You can expect your food between roughly 10:30am and 1:30pm. Once we have gone through the process a time or two, we should be able to give you a more precise time to expect your delivery.

If your child doesn't normally ride the bus, we will still deliver food to you. We have accounted for every child in the district and have assigned them to a bus. However, if we happen to miss a student, or you weren't home when we came to deliver, pick ups can be done in person at Meigs Elementary next week on Tuesday and Friday from 10:00am-12:00pm.

If you do not want/need these food deliveries, please let us know! You may opt out with the following form:

Please be patient with us as we work through this process. The health and well being of our students is of the utmost importance to us, and we want to ensure that every child's nutritional needs are met! If you have questions or concerns, please PM this page
