Meigs County Beef Show-Calaway Classic 2023 Scholarship Application
The Calaway Classic - Meigs County Beef Show committee is offering two $250 scholarships to local students. To qualify for the scholarship, you must be either a graduating senior, in your freshman year of college, or first year of trade school as well as shown beef cattle as a Meigs County resident. Alfred Burl Windon and Mary Marjorie Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established by long-time Pomeroy resident Burl Windon who worked in the field of chemical engineering and was a first-rate drummer who performed throughout the country with professional bands. Mr. Windon's wish was to establish a scholarship to support students interested in pursuing education in chemical engineering or the arts and to honor his longtime friend, Mart Marjorie Brown. Applicants must be a resident of Meigs County and plan to pursue a degree in chemical engineering or the arts, including, but not limited to, literature, music, painting, and dance. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2023. The application can be printed using the link or you can stop in the guidance office for a copy.
POMEROY HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP
Application: Submit Required Materials to the Pomeroy Alumni Association.
Due: May 13, 2023 and should be sent to: Pomeroy Alumni Association PO Box 202 Pomeroy, Ohio 45769
Description: Available to a child or grandchild of a Pomeroy High School Graduate. Applicants should send a transcript of grades, a current photo and a letter stating the following: College the applicant plans to attend, major the applicant plans to study, activities applicant has been involved in, parent/guardian's names, and the name and graduation year of the alumni parent or grandparent.
Crusin' Saturday Night Car Show Scholarship
The recipient of this scholarship must be a Meigs County student graduating from Eastern, Southern or Meigs with a minimum of 1 scholarship to be awarded to each high school. A student planning to go into a mechanical science field will be given special consideration, but is open to any field of study. The 2023 recipients will each receive $1,000 each towards college expenses. Applications are due to the committee no later than March 1, 2023. Applications are in the guidance office, can be printed using the link or picked up at Hill's Classic Cars office.
BraylynStrong Childhood Cancer Awareness Scholarship
This scholarship fund was set up by Braylyn Johnson and his family to give back to our community for all of the support that they received during Braylyn's battle with cancer. The fund will award (3) $1,000 scholarships each year to three high school seniors, one from each high school in Meigs Co. Eligibility criteria for the scholarship includes:
1. Must be a graduating senior of Eastern High School, Southern High School, or Meigs
High School; and
2. Must be pursuing vocational programs, an associate degree programs, or programs at
four-year institutions of higher learning; and
3. Young adult cancer patients; such as fighters or survivors; or
4. Young adults whose parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, or uncles are cancer
patients; such as fighters, survivors, or those taken; or
5. Parents and/or guardians of children who are cancer patients; such as fighters or
survivors, or those taken.
6. While priority will be given to individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer, consideration will be given for close
friends of young adult cancer patients; such as fighters, survivors, or those taken. Must have supportive letter from
family of cancer patient.
7. Supply a minimum of 200-word essay how cancer affected you and who it involved.
In the event the above criteria are too restrictive (because no student acceptable to FAO meets the criteria, or for other reasons), the purpose of the Fund shall include the support of educational scholarships for deserving students whose major is in the medical field or for students who most closely fit the criteria.

Gallipolis Elks Lodge #107 Scholarship
Available to graduating seniors in Gallia, Meigs, and Mason Co. Award is based on financial need as well as scholastic and leadership qualities. The application must be accompanied with an official high school transcript, a copy of ACT and/or SAT scores and at least two letters of recommendation. Deadline to apply is: July 5, 2023. Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) Scholarships
There are multiple scholarships included on this application; however, only a few are available to Meigs High School students. Some are major specific; some are school specific. Read all descriptions to find scholarships for which you are eligible. You only need to complete one application and simply check mark the scholarships for which you are applying. Ohio Gas Association Scholarship Foundation
- Must have a career goal in the natural gas or related energy field.
- Must be an Ohio resident attending, or planning to attend an accredited Ohio college, university, technical, or trade school.
- Must have and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- 3-page application is required. Applications are also available in the guidance office. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2023
Ohio Oil and Gas Energy Scholarship (OOGEEP)
This is a $1,000 scholarship and to qualify the following criteria must be met:
- Career Goal in the Natural Gas and Oil Industry
- Ohio resident who plans to attend or who is already attending an accredited Ohio college, university, technical or trade school.
- Must have a 2.5 GPA
- This is a 4-year renewable scholarship for qualifying students.
Applications are also available in the guidance office. The Deadline to apply is March 1, 2023
Ohio Association of Public-School Employees Memorial Scholarship Foundation Program
OAPSE/AFSCME Scholarship is available to any graduating high school senior whose parent or legal guardian has been a member in good standing of the OAPSE/AFSCME Local 4/AFL/CIO for one year. The graduating senior must intend to enroll in a full-time degree program in any 2- or 4-year accredited university, college, business, or technical school. The scholarship may be used for any field of study. At least one scholarship of $2,500 is awarded to a scholarship applicant in each of the ten OAPSE/AFSCME Districts in the state. The application must be postmarked NO LATER than March 1, 2023
Dr. G. James Pinchak Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was created by the Ohio Career-Technical Administrators Organization (OCTA) in memory of Dr. Jim Pinchak to help support career and technical education students who wish to further their training. This scholarship is available to all current senior students enrolled in a career and technical education program. There will be a $500 scholarship per OCTA region. Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative Scholarship
Applicants must be a son, daughter, or legal ward of a Buckeye Rural Electric Coopertive residential member living on the lines and receiving service at the time of completion. Applicant must be a graduating senior with a 3.5 or above GPA. Applicant may not be an immediate family member or an employee of any electric cooperative. Applications for the Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. competition must be submitted (typed to be accepted) on the forms provided by Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. or downloaded from www.buckeyerec.coop. Application forms must be postmarked by Saturday, February 18, 2023. Application information must be confined to the official nomination form. The only attachments permitted are transcripts, teacher recommendations and one photo of the applicant. (Teacher recommendations must be no more than 500-words.) IBI Group Scholarship Fund is established by IBI Group Engineering Services Inc., a multi-disciplinary global leader specializing in infrastructure, buildings, and Intelligence. The scholarship fund includes two $1,500 scholarships awarded annually. The primary objective of the scholarship is to foster college participation in students from southeastern Ohio. While students entering all career fields are eligible, there will be an emphasis on awarding the scholarships to those applicants interested in pursuing study in the field of civil engineering at an accredited university. Harry B. Crewson Freshman Scholarship
Members of the Ohio University Credit Union and their children are eligible for this scholarship. This award is available to incoming first-year students attending Ohio University who have demonstrated excellence in community activities and/or talent areas in addition to academic achievement in high school. Special emphasis is placed on contributions, honors, and recognition in all areas of community service, fine and performing arts, athletics, forensics, and other special talent areas and will be weighted heavily in the evaluation of each application. Scholastic achievement as reflected in ACT and SAT scores, class rank or academic record are also considered to be important criteria. Three $3,000 scholarships will be awarded. Deadline for application is March 1, 2023.
'Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest'
The VFW Auxiliary has a scholarship opportunity for up-and-coming artists called the 'Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest'.
